QR Code Generator

Turn any text or URL into a QR code instantly

About this tool

Sharing a URL, or putting a scannable code on a business card or flyer, comes up more often than you'd expect. Paste text or a URL into this tool and it generates a QR code for it right away.

You can switch between four error correction levels (L, M, Q, H), change the foreground and background colors, and pick an export size. A higher error correction level makes the code more resistant to dirt and damage, at the cost of how much text it can hold.

The result can be downloaded as a PNG suited for printing, or as an SVG that stays sharp at any size. Everything is generated in your browser, so what you type is never sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text or URL you want to encode into the input box.
  2. A QR code appears on the right and updates as you type.
  3. Adjust the error correction level, colors and export size if you need to.
  4. Use the "Download PNG" or "Download SVG" button to save the image.

Features

Updates as you type

The QR code regenerates immediately — there's no separate generate button.

Choice of error correction level

Pick from L, M, Q or H. For printed material, Q or higher holds up better against dirt and wear.

Customizable colors and size

Set the foreground and background colors freely, and export anywhere from 256 to 2048px.

PNG and SVG output

Download a PNG for printing, or an SVG that stays crisp no matter how much you scale it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I encode a long piece of text?

Yes, but the higher the error correction level, the less text it can hold. If you see an error, lower the error correction level or shorten the text.

Does the generated QR code expire?

The QR code itself never expires. If it encodes a URL, though, keep in mind that the URL itself could stop working at some point in the future.

Which error correction level should I use?

L or M is enough for something displayed on a screen, where damage isn't a concern. Use Q or H for printed codes used outdoors or with a logo overlaid, where the code is more likely to get scuffed or obscured.

Is what I enter saved anywhere?

The text and settings you choose are saved in your browser's local storage and restored the next time you open the page. Nothing is sent to a server.
